Most of the names you are measured against are one person with a good personal brand. There is no seat to join, because there is no team behind it. Atlas is sixteen loan officers, an operations desk that has worked together for twenty years, and two founders who still train people themselves.
You close a deal and you move on to the next one. Nobody hands you a playbook. Nobody tells you what to do when a file goes sideways at four o'clock on a Friday. You work it out, or you lose the deal.
The industry licenses thousands of new officers every year and gives most of them almost nothing. No SOPs. No community. No mentorship. Just a licence and the expectation that you will figure the rest out on your own time.
The ones who go on to thrive nearly always found somebody who had already made the mistakes and was willing to say so out loud. That access should not be as rare as it is.
None of that is a talent problem. It is a structural one — and it is the only part of this job that somebody else can genuinely fix for you.
“Nobody tells you what to do when a file goes sideways at 4pm on a Friday.” The reason this page exists
Four things, in the order our own officers rank them. Training comes first because it is the reason people cite most often for being here in the first place.
Led by a leadership team that has an actual stake in whether you succeed. Four decades of lending craft, taught rather than assumed — including the VA specialism most lenders treat as a footnote.
The desk that keeps your files moving while you are in front of people. The same group, working together, for more than twenty years — which is not something a new team can assemble on request.
Leadership you can actually reach on a Friday afternoon, colleagues who take the work as seriously as you do, and a brand that opens the door before you do.
Four decades of VA lending and leadership on one side. Two decades of top-producing origination in Houston on the other. Both of them still in the work, not narrating it from a distance.
This is the part most teams cannot copy. Not the brand, not the marketing — the desk behind it. Ours has been working as one group for over two decades, and it is the single reason our officers spend their week selling instead of firefighting.
“Our operations team is the pit crew that allows you to have the confidence to go out and do sales activities versus having to worry about your files.”
All three are already in the industry, already licensed, already originating. This is not an entry point into mortgage lending — it is a better place to do a job you can already do.
A few years in. Closing real volume, but doing every part of it yourself, and it has stopped scaling. The ceiling you have hit is not ability — it is the absence of anything underneath you.
Writing consistently and doing well. What is missing is infrastructure and reach — a brand that arrives before you do, licensing that follows your clients when they move, and a desk that carries the file.
You already lead a small team, and you carry all of it — training, operations, technology, morale. Atlas takes the parts that do not need to be yours and leaves you the part that does.
If you are newly licensed and looking for your first seat, this particular route is not the right one yet. Get in touch anyway — we would rather point you somewhere useful than leave you with nothing.
It is the first question nearly everybody asks, and the one most recruiting pages talk around. Some of the teams you are weighing us against will offer you a salaried sales position. That is a real thing, and if certainty is what you need right now, take it — we would rather say so than talk you out of it.
A salaried seat prices your risk and keeps the difference. The trade is real income certainty in exchange for a ceiling, and usually for someone else owning the relationship, the brand and the book you spend your years building.
Commission-only only makes sense if what sits behind it genuinely changes what you can produce. If it does not, you are carrying all of the risk for none of the leverage — and you would be better off alone.
Two things, and we would rather be judged on them than on adjectives. A brand that opens the door before you do, and infrastructure that removes everything from your week except selling and closing.
That means the training, the SOPs, the operations desk, the follow-up, the site and the presentation are handled. Not offered as a menu, not billed back to you. Your week goes to the only activity that pays you, which is the argument for the trade and the whole of it.
What we will not do is put a number on this page. The package, the splits and what is guaranteed on day one are set out in writing and walked through with you in conversation, because they depend on where you are, what you produce and what you bring. Anyone quoting you a figure before they have asked those questions is guessing.
Not a management layer you meet once at onboarding. Leslie leads recruiting and education, Dwayne leads operations and the team day to day, and each is substantially involved in what the other leads. You get somebody teaching you the craft and somebody making sure your files move while you learn it.
Over four decades in lending, licensed across twenty-three states, and a VA specialist in a market where most lenders treat the benefit as a footnote. That licensing footprint is the hardest thing on this page for a competing team to replicate, because it cannot be bought quickly.
Leslie leads how Atlas trains people. The education programme is built around her, and it is the part that turns a commission-only seat into a career move rather than a lateral one.
“Listening and solving for yes.”
Read Leslie's story
Twenty years originating across Houston as one of the region's top producers, built on speed, structuring and knowing exactly what keeps a pipeline moving. He has sat on both sides of the closing table and runs the business accordingly.
Dwayne leads the loan officer team day to day. He is the reason a new recruit's first file closes rather than stalls, and the reason a team this size can operate without a different process for every person in it.
“Every client is a relationship, not a transaction.”

Plenty of people speak to us a year before they join, and some never do. Either way you will leave the call knowing more about what you are owed by a team than you did going into it.
